Cartier Santos—100 Years
Like the original Cartier watches, the nice products develop and change with time, as the replica industry follows the original company in its pursuit of innovation in design and development of watch collections. The Santos collection has been continually developed since its inception in 1904 as an accurate wristwatch for aviators who needed to replace the common pocket watches which were less reliable and convenient during flight. Variations on the original watch continue to this day, with a new design recently released in 2009 by the Cartier company, as part of the centenary celebration of the original watch—the Cartier Santos 100 Tourbillon collection. The Cartier replica industry has followed suit, and the 2010 collection includes their copy of the Cartier Santos 100 Skeleton Tourbillon CR-1 watch, which closely follows the original. One variation of this replica Cartier has a Swiss-made stainless steel case (measuring 45mm x 60mm), with a white and black face and black Roman numeral hour markers and hands. There are two sub-dials showing the day and date. The automatic movement is of high quality Japanese make. A hardened, scratch resistant mineral crystal glass protects the dial. The skeleton back reveals the workings and has all the accurate marks, as does the entire watch. The watch carries the weight and feel of the original. While the design is water resistant, it is not water proof. The watch case is complimented by leather, rubber, or crocodile hide straps, and a signature clasp. The Brazilian aviator, Santos-Dumont, not only helped in the innovation of wrist watches, but set a world-wide trend for men which continues to this day. Awesome wirstwatches,
such as the Santos model, have kept the replica industry before the public eye over the years while providing eye-catching, innovative, handsome designs to be worn day or night, and affordably available to discerning men and women customers.
